Dear all

I hope you have all enjoyed a wonderful half term (for those with kids) and Jubilee Weekend.

I didn’t manage a newsletter last month so first a quick round up of April and May…….   April was a relatively quiet month as we had the Easter holidays and quite a few people had covid so walks were fairly quiet – but those who did manage to get out will have seen lots of fabulous bluebells which seemed to appear a little earlier this year!

A group of us started the High Weald Landscape Trail and enjoyed a 10 mile walk from Horsham to the village of Bolney – quite a challenging route with a few hills but lots of lovely views and bluebells on the way.  The next instalment is this month on 26 June, when we will walk approximately 10 miles from Bolney to Ardingly, passing through the pretty village of Cuckfield on route.

May saw the start of regular Nordic Walks in the Park (easy walks with functional fitness) and Power Walks in the Park – every Thursday at Haysden Park.  So far they have been a success. They are suitable for everyone – even if you have not done a Nordic Walking induction yet.  I will teach you technique gradually over a number of sessions.  Let me know if you would like to come along or just book online via the website.

The highlight of May was undoubtedly the Nordic Walking and Qigong mini-retreat in the Ashdown Forest.  We were blessed with fantastic weather and it was lovely to pause during our walk to learn about and practice some Qigong.  It was a blessing in disguise that the tea room wasn’t able to accommodate us, as we had a lovely impromptu picnic afterwards.  If you missed this and would like to give it a go, Annabel and I are running another Nordic Walking and Qigong mini-retreat at Penshurst Place this Friday 10 June.  There will be a Nordic Walking induction at 9:30 for those who have not done it before, followed by coffee at 10:30, then a walk and Qigong session.  If you are a regular Nordic Walker, just miss the lesson and come along at 10:30.  Let me know if you want to come along.

The schedule for June is now on the website – lots to look forward to.

On 17 June there is Nordic Walking and Paddleboarding…..this is currently fully booked but do put yourself on the waiting list if you want to come as it is possible that spaces will become available.  You are welcome to just join us for the walk.

Look out for evening walks – perfect for these longer days – on 21 June there will be a Midsummer Evening walk with sundowners.

Fingers crossed for a month of good weather so we can enjoy all this time in the great outdoors!
