Once he made the decision to quit in 2007 however, he piled on the weight and realised he was in poor health and not active at all. Val Sandham had an extremely painful lower back problem which she describes as so bad that a short walk form her chair to the Kitchen was simply dreadful. Her Osteopath agreed that maybe Nordic Walking could help as it would strengthen the back without any twisting or strain.
