Go to our website at www.walx.co.uk and click on the ‘Find your WALX’ tab along the top of the home page. Search ‘All Types of Activities’ unless you know the specific type of WALX activity you are looking for, in which case click on the down arrow in the Activities window to reveal the menu. You don’t need to enter a date range unless your search is date specific.

Enter a post code, town or venue in the ’Enter a Location‘ window and click on ’Search’. All available WALX activities will be displayed.

Prices may vary from location to location or by activity type, but in general you will pay from as little as £5.00.

If you just want to pay as you go, that’s fine as you can pay on-line when you book using any credit or debit card but the most cost effective option is to sign up to WALX Membership and opt for a monthly fee with your local group – you will get unlimited WALX from as little as £16 a month paid monthly by direct debit.

No, you can choose to join any of our Open WALX whenever it suits you and just pay as you book but WALX  but if you want to book into WALX regularly you will need to join WALX and gain your WALX Membership which is only £15 a year. The most cost effective way to participate if you are booking 2 or 3 WALX activities in a month is to join WALX and opt for a monthly DD with your local group.

The main benefit of signing up to the WALX Membership is that you can book unlimited WALX with your local club however you choose to pay. You also get massive savings with all of the major outdoor retailers and in the WALX store In addition, if you choose monthly payment with your local group you get one free WALX activity each month with any other WALX Club plus 20% discount on all subsequent bookings with that WALX Club.

There are different types of WALX to suit all levels of fitness. Wellness WALX are low intensity and contain moderate rates of exertion plus mobility exercises. Explorer WALX can vary in the level of intensity due to the terrain, the duration and the elevation and Total Body WALX can vary due to the type of fitness component included in the activity. On the WALX website, you can read the description for each activity that will include all of this information before you book any activity.

You need flexible soled trainers or walking shoes – ideally waterproof but this is not essential.

Clothing needs to be suitable for the weather and its always a good idea to bring extra layers. A small backpack or hip bag is useful for carrying waterproof clothing or extra layers. It is advisable to bring a bottle of water to any activity.

No. The WALX Leader will provide equipment to get you started. If you are participating in your favourite WALX activity regularly, you can buy your own equipment which is available on the WALX website, where there is a discount available to WALX Members.

Most Wellness WALX and Total Body WALX activities will take between 45 minutes and an hour. Explorer WALX tend to take longer due to the distance or terrain. The WALX website includes a description of every WALX activity that explains the location, the type of activity, the duration and the intensity so you can be certain that you have chosen an activity that suits you.

Most WALX activities are designed for adults but some will be designed to be specifically suitable for families, young children or mature adults. Generally, there is no upper age limit as long as you select a WALX activity that suits your level of health and fitness.

For most WALX activities, you will learn any specific techniques as part of the activity, so there is no need for an induction class. Separate Technique courses are available for those people who want to develop specific skills and get more from their exercise. In Total Body WALX there are regular workshops to help you master the specific equipment or techniques such as Nordic style.

All WALX are designed to improve an individual’s health, sense of well-be g and fitness.

The level and the rate of improvement is dependent upon many factors including frequency of participation, the level of effort expended in the activity, diet and other lifestyle factors.

Before you start with WALX you will be asked to complete a Pre-Activity Readiness Questionnaire. if you have any conditions that are considered to be contra-indications to exercise, our WALX Leader will contact you personally to discuss your condition. In most instances this will not prevent you from participating, but it does ensure that we can give you the best advice and help you to achieve your health and fitness goals.

With regard to weight loss, the level and the rate of improvement is dependent upon many factors including frequency of participation, the level of effort expended in the activity, diet and other lifestyle factors.

If weight loss is your specific goal, Total Body WALX are designed to engage more of the major muscles in higher intensity exercises and therefore use more energy (calories), thus promoting weight loss.

The WALX team have been developing and delivering outdoor exercise and fitness activities for ten years, so we know what makes a great experience for our customers. All WALX activities are designed to be safe effective and fun, meaning that you get great fitness results without even realising that you are exercising. We also know what makes a great WALX Leader, so you are in good hands; all of our Leaders are trained in route planning, risk assessments, first aid, class planning, principles of fitness and customer care.

A Wellness WALX is a gentle WALX that incorporate balance work, flexibility and strength exercises and maybe a bit of tai chi or relaxation too. Great for those who are getting back into exercise, have a health condition or simply want to move well and be fit for life! Our wellbeing Instructors are qualified to deliver WALX for all levels so it’s never too late to take that first step.

These WALX make every step count! Total Body walking™ is a unique mix of drills, strength exercises, the use of Nordic walking poles and other innovative fitness walking kit to help target the upper body too. Delivered by our fully qualified Instructors who will plan WALX that work on all aspects of fitness and make the most of being outdoors!

From one-hour WALX in your local country park to a half day in the hills, our Explorer WALX capture the variety of scenery, themes and types of WALX that suit your lifestyle. If you love WALX to the pub or WALX with the dog or simply WALX in wild locations, we have them all! Whether long, short, tough or gentle we welcome all ages and all levels.

Everyone is welcome to all WALX activities that are designed to be sociable, fun and effective. All WALX are attended by mixed groups.

There are WALX activities that are suitable for dogs, either as an all dog activity or in mixed groups. The description of each WALX activity on the website will include information about the suitability of the walks for dogs and any conditions that need to be adhered to such as the use of long leads or harnesses.

The WALX team is a group of experienced professionals who are passionate about promoting the physical, mental and social benefits of physical activity and who believe that these benefits can be delivered by inspiring more people to be more active in the outdoors.

Drawing upon more than 100 years collective experience in leisure, fitness and outdoor activity, the founders of WALX have created an outdoor activity experience that is suitable for people of all ages, abilities and interests and where the enjoyment and sociability are equally as important as physical activity.

The first step is to let us know a bit more about who you are and how you want to get involved. You can do this by submitting a simple form on the WALX website under the ‘Start a Club’ tab on the home page. There are lots of opportunities, from training to be a WALX Leader for your local WALX club, right through to starring your own WALX Club as a Franchisee.

WALX is a new concept that was launched recently. WALX Clubs are owned and run by independent Franchisees and we are in the process of recruiting more right now.
