9.30am START. Led by NWUK Instructor Susan Spain, the 'Saturday Early Bird Workout Walk' is a 1 hour moderate to faster pace Workout Walk. These energising sessions will help you rebuild your stamina and fitness levels, & push that pace without compromising on technique plus work on strength and core fitness. For those who have completed a Power of the Poles or Learn to Nordic walk course and have their Freedom code. Incorporates motivating drills and exercises using Gears 1, 2 and .... maybe some Gear 3. Will also incorporates some technique work to help you get the most out of your Nordic Walking.
Meeting point - We meet outside the cafe at the Clifton Country Park Visitor Centre Car Park. (Sat Nav: M27 6NG). Plenty of free parking. Easily reached via exit 16 off the M60 or exit 2 off the M61, then along the A666 and turn down Clifton House Road (follow brown signs). Bus stop: Use the Clifton Cricket Club stop on Manchester Road (Bus numbers 8 and 22). Park is a short walk down Clifton House Road.
Stay after the walk for the social at the cafe.... have a quick brew (option to bring your own mug to be more environmentally friendly) and have breakfast if you wish... and then stay for the 11am Saturday Strider Adventure Walk too! (Even better value if you're on the monthly Direct Debit option!).
Toilet facilities are available at the cafe (along with the usual hot drinks and snacks).
Poles can be hired on the day for £1 (coin)

Learn to Nordic Walk Course (Condensed) 2 x 1½ hour sessions
(NWUK has found that 1-hour x 4 weeks is the optimum length of time for a LtNW course, however, not everyone can manage that commitment for reasons such as distance or time restraints. This course is suitable for those people)
Poles will be provided. This session takes place outdoors so dress for the weather – A waterproof jacket is usually an essential item. Good walking footwear is important so walking shoes, sturdy trainers or walking boots are all fine. Remember to bring water or snacks if required.
Session 1 (Lessons 1+2) - Introduction to the essentials of Nordic Walking with practice drills and introducing increasing pace, hill techniques and different surfaces.

You have discovered the Power Of Poles journey with the beginners workshop and you have been practising your technique on your group walks. Now you are ready to progress to the POP 2 workshop to gain more advanced skills to complete your understanding of one of the best full body walking experiences.
In this workshop you will explore the full Nordic Walking technique including Gear 3 and Double Poling, with drills to help you gain a more comprehensive understanding of poles to maximise them for everything from fitness walking to running.
This session involves plenty of practice, fault correction and personel guidance in order to leave you with a greater understanding of using poles for progression, fitness and results.
You wil need your own poles for this workshop, strapped or strapless poles.

With plenty of flora and fauna in the woodlands and meadows this will be an interesting walk around another of Leicester's open green spaces. We love stretching our legs through the park on a Sunday. The orchards will be filling up with goodies, and the hedgerows with brambles. You might want to bring a box to take some blackberries home?

Rose Hill Marple Nordic Walks
Come along and join us on a friendly Nordic Walk starting at The Railway Pub near Rose Hill Station Marple, there are different circular routes around the area, using a mixture of streets, canals, parks, woodland, riverside paths, bridlepaths
The walk includes a short mobilisation of joints prior to walking and a cool down stretch at the end.
The walks are advertised at 90mins but they may take a little longer than that, due to terrain, social distancing measures.
Time 10:00-11:30
Gears 1 and maybe 2 with some hills.

Join our Guided Nordic Walk around the ancient Forest. Walks are led by our team of experienced Forestry England Volunteers. Our walks are suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels, who have completed a NWUK Learn to Walk Course and are comfortable walking for the full 90 minutes.

Starting at The Ship – a lovely Summer walk through a recreation area, then woodlands, across fields and back towards Alveston and visiting the Alpaca Farm & cafe for optional refreshments . This is a moderate to fast paced walk allowing you to challenge yourself at your own fitness level. It takes in historic Woolton Woods and Camp Hill with stunning views across to North Wales.
