Our Wellbeing classes are gentler Nordic walking sessions, suitable for those gradually building their fitness levels, or with injuries or medical conditions that require a more gradual approach to improved health and fitness.
For those who will benefit, this class can include gentle balance, strength and breathing exercises, and individual rest periods are incorporated when required.
This session is about an hour.

Description of the Walk: From the Library the WALX Guide will lead you through one of 3 routes. Choosing from the walk to the River Thames, Lesnes Abbey or Southmere Lake. A great way to get yourself fitter and healthier!
This session is a firm favorite with the members. They call themselves 'The Hillbillies'.
Laughter is a key feature of the class.
It is designed to challenge your flexibility, joint mobility, balance and strength whilst using poles to improve general fitness. Exercises are incorporated within the walk.
Many of our members are seeing the benefits of participating in the wellness sessions. Results have included a reduction in blood pressure, improvements in breathing, better balance and a general feeling of wellbeing. We have a lot of fun as we exercise in the fresh air.
This is a very social session and we often stay behind for tea, coffee and putting the world to rights in the tearooms.

This walk is good at any time of the year but especially in February whan the snow drops are in flower along the wooded edge of Coundmoor Brook. Bluebelles follow.
Our route passes two accient bridges the Coundarbour which is the oldest iron bridge still inuse by wheeled traffic. This bridge and the snow drops are dipicted in a modern stain glass window near the door of the ancient Cound Church.

A lovely gently paced social walk around Rushcombe Bottom and surrounding area. It is just under 2.5 miles, there are some gentle inclines.Paths can be stoney, muddy, and uneven.
Corfe Hills Nature Park includes areas of woodland, heathland, meadows and pastures, connected by footpaths and guided trails. Grazing plays an important role in the management of many habitats and you may encounter livestock on your walk
After exploring Rushcombe Bottom, we pass some rural properties, then walk a short distance on Ashington Cutting (accessed by a flight of wooden steps with a hand rail ) which is part of an old disused railway line.We continue on to walk a short loop at Happy Bottom Nature Reserve, positioned at the northern end of the Corfe Barrows Nature Park and owned and managed by Dorset Wildlife Trust.
We will meet at the junction of Roman Heights and Jupiter Way.There is free street parking.

A super part-circular walk around the Reservoir at Carding Mill Valley. There are two possible routes - one incorporating part of Pipe Walk, and the other more of a there and back route, both sides of the pavilion.
Nordic Walx are simply sociable Nordic walks in a mixed ability group, enjoying beautiful locations in and around South Shropshire and beyond. Most routes are circular and will try to make the most of the beautiful surroundings.
