Walk Description:

Power of Poles If you're looking for a friendly, enjoyable way to stay active, independent and confident as you get older, our Power of Poles Intro Course is the perfect place to begin. Our Power of Poles Intro Course has been designed for ordinary people who want to enjoy walking more, improve their health and feel confident about staying active for years to come. You don't need to be particularly fit, you don't need any experience, and you certainly don't need to worry about keeping up. Whether you're returning to exercise, looking to improve your balance, managing the occasional aches and pains, or simply wanting to enjoy the outdoors with like-minded people, we'll guide you every step of the way. During this relaxed and friendly session, you'll learn the simple techniques that turn an ordinary walk into Total Body Walking. Using specially designed poles, you'll discover how to walk with better posture, greater stability and improved confidence, while taking pressure away from your knees and hips and gently engaging your whole body. It's a safe, effective way to become more active, whatever your starting point. The course takes place in the peaceful surroundings of Vernatt's Drain, just outside Spalding. The mostly flat, traffic-free paths provide the ideal environment to learn at your own pace, ask questions and enjoy being outdoors. For me, though, this course is about much more than learning a new skill. It's about giving you the confidence to enjoy walking again. To feel stronger. To look after your long-term health. And, if you choose, to become part of a welcoming community where people encourage one another, enjoy the countryside together and genuinely look forward to meeting each week. Many of our members tell me they came along to improve their fitness, but stayed because of the friendships, support and enjoyment they found along the way. This isn't simply a course. It's the first step towards a healthier, more active and connected life—and we'd love to welcome you.
