Walk Description:

A comfortably paced Total Body WALX for you to enjoy in a social atmosphere, during the walk providing if the weather is fine, we will stop for a 20 minute session of Chi Ball - a mixture of Tai Chi and Yoga from the seasons sequence. A small ball is used but imagination is fine for the session.

Beginners Nordic Walking Courses. (Power of Poles Intro) There is a course on the 6th December too.     These are a great way to get started with Nordic walking, whether for health, fitness or simply exercising effectively outside.Walking with poles is less stressful on the joints, it makes you walk faster with very little extra effort, it works your upper body as well as the legs.The result being more effective calorie burning, stronger core and toning of the upper body.The initial session is 90 minute session, you'll learn the basics of Nordic walking, gaining the skills to get the most from your own walking as well as being able to join national Nordic Walking UK and WALX classes.Once the first session is completed, two regular walks or one longer walk are included with IRBO, and everything we did in the first session will come together. (Must be taken within four weeks of the course.)Locally, you'll be able to book into any of our I'd Rather Be Outdoors Nordic Walks and you can join walks & classes, every week all around the UK.  Poles are provided for the course. A great way to start the week is with an Active Mondays walk in and around Stanmore. Get ready for the weekend with a stimulating Saturday morning walk around Stanmore Country park. Or join us on a Sunday morning for a longer, faster paced walk in Ruislip Woods.These are intermediate walks, lasting one hour and will include some hill work. For those new to the area you`ll be surprised at the fantastic views over London that you get from Wood Farm Viewpoint, the hidden lakes in PearsWood and Bentley Priory and the seemigly endless trails through woods which change with the seasons.

Walkabout Wednesdays give the opportunity to travel a little further into neighbouring boroughs, or out along the Metropolitan line into the Chess Valley. Saturdays we`re always in the Stanmore Country Park, but we never tire of it as there are such a variety of trails to explore.

We will be walking on both grass and paths so make sure you’re wearing supportive walking boots or shoes/trainers with a good tread that you are happy to get dirty and comfortable clothing appropriate for the weather. Paws will be required (on and off on different terrains). Hats, sunscreen and insect repellent will also be required when the weather dictate.
