Walk Description:

This walk is a stunner!  After a fairly steep initial climb we will walk along the ridge of the South Downs to Firle Beacon (217m) and beyond and on a clear day we will be rewarded with magnificent views towards the coast and inland.  We may have the opportunity to pop into the Berwick Church to see paintings by the Bloomsbury artists (Duncan Grant, Vanessa Bell and Quentin Bell) and we will also walk past Charleston Farmhouse and will be able to take a peek at the gardens before heading back towards Firle (possibly via the quirky and hidden Beanstalk Cafe)!  The walk itself is approximately 10 miles with a 9:30am start, we should be finished at around 3pm.  

Please note I am unable to offer this walk as a free walk for DD payers.  I will contact you separately for payment. 

I need a minimum of 3 people for a walk.  Please cancel by 6pm the day before a walk.  If you need to cancel after this time or on the day of the walk, I would ask that you just let me know that you cannot attend and the walk will remain chargeable. If a walk is to be cancelled due to insufficient numbers, I will let you know by 8pm the evening before.

MODERATE Walks - walks might involve hills and we walk at a pace of around 3 - 3.5 miles per hour.  The walks are usually around 90 mins.

The POWER of POLES (POP) Induction is totally unique in that it explores the use of both strapless and strapped Nordic walking poles to help you gain the best techniques and results! This course is ideally taught over 1.5 hours.

Gear one

Start your Monday with a 2k to 3k gentle WALX that incorporates balance work, flexibility and strength exercises and maybe a bit of yoga or relaxation too. These walks take place around Stanmore and Harrow Weald on mainly flat terrain but we do go on trails through the woods so that we can enjoy the changes in nature throughout the year. This is a very friendly group and we are always ready to welcome new walkers who want to get back into exercise in a safe and gradual way.

Starting in April 2024 there is also the option to sign up for the 6 week Total Body Walking Programme in the beautiful Canons Park in Stanmore which is being supported by TfL and Friends of Canons Park. This programme runs on Tuesdays and Sundays at 11am.

Walk Description:

Duration – 1 ½ hours, walk grade - 3.  Not everyone walks at the same pace!  The Regular Walk is a social way to get fit and stay fit.  It`s aimed at moderate paced walkers and above.  After a warm up we will set off together and those that wish to walk fast can go ahead and at certain points we will gather together.  This is achieved by those walking ahead will, at certain points or times, double back to the rear of the group or remaining at a pre-determined rendezvous point and practicing drills or other gentle exercises to keep warm and active.

Pace: Mainly Gear 2.  Distance covered : approx 3 to 4k depending on weather and ground conditions

A great walk for intermediate Nordic walkers, these weekly walks take place in the parks and public footpaths around Harrow, Stanmore and Ruislip.

An excellent way to start the week is with a Nordic Walx on a Monday or Wednesday in and around Stanmore and Harrow Weald. Get ready for the weekend with a stimulating Saturday morning walx around Stanmore Country Park. Or join us on a Sunday morning for a longer, faster paced walk in Ruislip Woods.
