This is a walk for those who are managing a long term health condition. The session comprises of a walking route that can be inland, or along the coast at Goring. There will be rest stops, and the pace regulated to accommodate all those attending on the day. Also there will be exercises and activities to target flexibility, strength and balance. It will be a session with the aim to motivate people to try and improve their fitness and mobility, or to give others the chance to maintain some regular outdoor mobility. It will be a social and fun session.

This is a friendly and popular Nordic walking Group for those who have completed a Power of Poles induction course. We explore the forest trails in Delamere Forest and cover 2-3 miles. It is a sociable walk at a slower pace than the Monday walk but faster than a wellness walk. This allows us time to chat , take in our surroundings and discuss flora, fauna and historical snippets.

A moderately paced Nordic Walk for you to enjoy in a social atmosphere, the WALX Guide will lead you through a warm up, follow the aerobic curve during the walk to enable you to improve your fitness levels, finish with a cool down and a stretch.
To book this walk you must complete the Power of Poles training, Wellness WALX are available throughout the week, these do not require the training if you want to come along and have a try.

Your qualified instructor will add motivating drills and exercises into a fast paced fun walk. Enjoy sociable Nordic walking in stunning locations with a mixed ability group. Lead by accredited instructors or walk leaders, these walks make the most of our beautiful coastal countryside and are a relaxing way to enjoy being active outdoors.
Jacky’s Jaunt
This walk along the North Devon coast includes a section of the South West Coast National Trail. The route follows paths and lanes enjoying spectacular views along the Atlantic coastline accompanied by possible sightings of porpoise and seals.
We start and finish at the meeting point where outstanding views of the local coastline await our return in a smart and contemporary venue (The Pier House).

These 2 walks warm up together and then take different routes according to your ability.
Referral WALX
A comfortably paced walk in the Gardens for you to enjoy in a social atmosphere. The qualified Exercise Referral Instructor will lead you through a warm up, a short walk making stops along the way if needed and finish with a stretch. Exercise bands are often used within the walk to rest the legs, improve strength in the upper body and work on posture.
We join all Wednesday walkers after the walk for a cuppa in the park if the weather is dry.
Total Body WALX
A gentle paced walk for 45 minutes with a WALX Guide around the lake, joining all Wednesday walkers for a cuppa in the park if the weather is dry.
You can book this session without the Power of Poles training, join us walking with no poles or borrow a set from us and feel the ‘Power of Poles’.

This walk is ideal for individuals who are comfortable maintaining a steady walking pace of 3 to 3.5 miles per hour for the entire duration. If you are looking for a consistent challenge to boost your fitness level within a supportive group environment, this walk is perfectly suited to your goals.
Walk time of 2 -2.5 hours.
Walkers are requested to arrive at the venue 10 minutes before the start time to allow for parking, shoe change, pole adjustment etc, so that the walk can start promptly at the time indicated.

This session takes place outdoors so please check the forecast and dress for the weather. Good footwear is important so sturdy trainers or walking boots or shoes are all fine.
Remember to bring water or snacks if required.
The session is broken down in to 3 main parts:
Introduction to, and familiarisation with, the equipment and techniques; Looking at, and practice in, the ‘Gears’ system – How to vary pace and intensity; and then going for a walk and incorporating revision of techniques learned.A follow-up session at a mutually convenient time is recommended. It is a social walk with the main focus on having a chat with fellow walkers. . This walk is through Jephson Gardens, Mill Gardens and/or the Pump Room Gardens and /or Victoria Park.

Nordic Walking is suitable for all levels of ability including those who are new to outdoor walking and those with health conditions. The poles provide propulsion and stability. Nordic Walking is very flexible and you are able to walk at a pace that is comfortable for you.
