The terrific Tuesday series of Explorer WALX starts from picturesque Thorpe. Literally, at the gateway to Dovedale, this appealing little village is set in some of the most beautiful countryside.
Close to the junction of the beautiful rivers Dove and Manifold, it was originally a group of farms and isolated cottages around the tiny church of St Leonard.

Join our Guided Nordic Walk around the ancient Forest. Walks are led by our team of experienced Forestry England Volunteers. Our walks are suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels, who have completed a NWUK Learn to Walk Course and are comfortable walking for the full 90 minutes.

MIKE`S LONGER 2-3 HOUR TUESDAY WANDERER MONTHLY WALK (meet at 10.20am for a prompt 10.30am start time) - Led by Parks and Pathways Walk Leader Mike Podmore. It will be a moderate pace 2 -3 hour walk of around 5 to 8 miles from different locations taking place once a month when Mike is available.
THIS WEEK – Tatton Park from Rostherne Lane . This is a walk of around 5 miles. This interesting walk will take us through Tatton Park on both roads and grass tracks and on our route, we will see the Mansion, the Choragic Monument, both Melchett and Tatton meres, Millenium Wood, Mill Pond and the Airbourne Forces memorial as well as the many deer in the park. There will be a brew/food (or bring your own) stop mid walk at Tatton Stableyard where there are also toilet facilities.
Meeting point – Rostherne Lane, Knutsford near to the junction with New Road. Park on Rostherne Lane near the Almhouses. SATNAV – WA16 6RY. (See full walk info for detailed directions).

The POWER OF THE POLES Induction process is suitable for all levels and is a structured teaching programme. There are 2 Courses of one and a half hours each. Course 1 is designed to provide sufficient knowledge for someone to be proficient at using poles. Course 2 is an optional further course for those wanting to explore a more in-depth knowledge of walking with poles and the traditional Nordic Technique. I will help you to understand your current level of fitness and empower you to use poles at the correct intensity in order to get the results you want.
These courses will ensure you master the technique of using poles and change the way you walk for life. Course 1 will cover the following:
Mastering the power of Fitness Walking polesGear 1: Mastering the arm swing, upper body engagement and pole plant angle.
Gear 2: Gaining propulsion from the pole and toe push, adapting pole position for hills and tailoring technique to your fitness, mobility and personal goals.
You will experience different poles types, the core ledge and straps in order to select the technique and poles that are right for YOU!
At the end of this session, you will have a full understanding of using poles correctly and be at a level where you will be issued with the NWUK Freedom Passport, allowing you to join walks & classes.
Dress to suit the weather, ensuring that you have suitable footwear. Please bring water in a small rucksack or bumbag, so that your hands are free. All poles are provided
