2026 March Lunar Eclipse: The Blood Moon

However, this is more than just another Full Moon! There is also going to be a Total Lunar Eclipse, also known as a Blood Moon. During a lunar eclipse, the Sun, Moon, and Earth all align so that the Earth comes between the Moon and the Sun. This means that the Earth will cast a shadow over the Moon (also known as the umbra). When the Moon is in the umbra of the Earth, the Earth casts a reddish shadow, hence the name Blood Moon. 

This 2-3 mile cliff top walk will serve as a time to embrace the wonderful sea and calm of the clifftops, whilst taking in the fabulous sunset and moonrise. 

Join us for this fabulous moonlight clifftop walk as the moon rises over the sea, and the sun sets over the Dodman.

This session is an hours brisk walk to help to switch off at the  end of the day. It is a brisk one hour walk, with few stops. It will be at a steady consistent pace so ideal for building your cardio fitness!! It is a social walk so you will have the distraction of chatting whilst exercising.  

During the winter months head torches are essential so YOU can be seen as the route tends to be off the Comyn. During the lighter evenings there is more opportunity to take this session over fields and farmland.

Duration – 1 ½ hours, walk grade - 3.  Not everyone walks at the same pace!  The Regular Walk is a social way to get fit and stay fit.  It`s aimed at moderate paced walkers and above.  After a warm up we will set off together and those that wish to walk fast can go ahead and at certain points we will gather together.  This is achieved by those walking ahead will, at certain points or times, double back to the rear of the group or remaining at a pre-determined rendezvous point and practicing drills or other gentle exercises to keep warm and active.

Referral WALX

A comfortably paced walk in the Gardens for you to enjoy in a social atmosphere. The qualified Exercise Referral Instructor will lead you through a warm up, a short walk making stops along the way if needed and finish with a stretch. Exercise bands are often used within the walk to rest the legs, improve strength in the upper body and work on posture.

We join all Wednesday walkers after the walk for a cuppa in the park if the weather is dry.

It is a social walk with the main focus on having  a chat with fellow walkers. .   This walk is through Jephson Gardens, Mill Gardens   and/or the Pump Room Gardens and /or Victoria Park.  

It is ideal if you need a walk to build your confidence at a gentle pace.

You will have plenty of opportunity to look at the stunning display of plants and trees in the Gardens and if necessary take a breather on a bench in the tranquillity in these unique gardens in memory of Dr Jephson   .  ‘
