COUCH TO 3K OR 5K CHALLENGE
Enjoy sociable Nordic walking at an easy gentle pace.
These gentle paced easy adventure walks are designed for people who haven’t exercised for a while, and those who are recovering from, or living with, illness or injury.
Mostly gear 1 with some gear 2 where appropriate over mixed terrain and lasting 45 minutes + 15 minutes for strength and resistance exercises with the poles.
On our sessions we will:
-enjoy a good chat
-take notice of nature and the seasonal changes around us
-take regular pitstops to enjoy the view
-not feel pressured to keep up with anyone
-feel proud that progress, however gentle, is still progress
-attempt to go that bit further each week
-keep track of our own steps & not worry about what others are doing!
-encourage not discourage.
We will focus on all aspects of physical and mental well-being. Strength, fitness, flexibility, core strength and even a bit of mindfulness will all be incorporated to give you an hour of fun and functional exercise.
These gentle walks will be just what you need to build up your confidence and improve your health.

An early evening walk after a busy day at home or in the office. This one hour walk will follow part of the Nar Valley Way and enable us to enjoy some of the great countryside views. We will then loop back towards the village and end our walk by following some of the lokes before reaching the Castle. It will be a fairly brisk walk so ideal for building up your cardio fitness.
This Explorer WALX session is open to walkers who do not wish, or are not able, to use poles. This session is suited to those who are looking to improve their fitness and can walk at a minimum pace of 3 mph.

Nordic Walking can quickly build your general fitness, but adding some specific exercises will help you to perform better and keep improving your fitness. a strength & conditioning session, designed to improve our overall body strength, core strength, mobility, flexibility and balance. The session comprises:- A short dynamic warm up to get us ready for the exercises to follow; A main section targetting key muscle groups to support and enhance our longer term Walking capabilities; and A controlled cool down, to enhance recovery. The session focuses on quality posture and range of motion. We will not be lifting any weights just working within our own capabilities and against gravity : )
