An Intermediate / Gear 2 walk of approximately 1.25/1.5 hours. Walking at a faster pace and a distance of approximately 4 miles. The gradient is gentle, but the aim is to maintain a good pace so the technique must be established. There are a couple of alternative routes according to the ground conditions but walkers should be prepared to walk along country roads and farm tracks with the option of a long gentle incline for a slightly further route.
Gear 1 - A nice, easy and natural pace that you can do for extended periods with recovery periods where appropriate. Short hills might be introduced.
Gear 2 - A faster pace gained through technique. There will be less recovery time.

This is a lovely walk in the oposite direction to the rings heading towards Charlton Marshall. Other than the first bit at the school it is a flat walk and you can start to look at your distance. Everyone can join in on any week or as and when you can however you will get more out of it starting at either 3 or 4 miles pending your abilities so that you can work towards the next mile gently.
We are starting at 3 miles and will build as follow:

Week 3 - 3 1/2 miles

This is a steady away prom walk from Heysham village heading to Morecambe and back. It's approx 6 miles / 2 hours of walking with plenty of options to take a break. This walk suits all fitness levels.
The reward at the end is the lovely Curiosity Cafe pitstop. Obviously this is an optional extra.
