Lyme Park 

Come and join us on a social walk on a circular route of around 5km within the Historic Estate of Lyme Park.

Nestling on the edge of the Peak District, Lyme was once home to the Legh family, and in its heyday a great sporting estate. 

The estate is 1400 acres, so offers lots of different walks with stunning views, and we may see some of their famous deer herd too.

Optional coffee and cake afterwards in The Timberyard Cafe.

Its Halloween, so let's do part of the walk into Lancaster of the ‘witches trail’ Join us for this 6.5-mile walk.

Walking along the River Lune along the old trackbed. Through the picturesque ‘crook o lune’ Leaving the river bank up the track that we have used before but in the opposite direction.

Into Williamson Park. After a rest walking through Lancaster to the castle, the end of the journey for the ‘witches.

We however must walk to the bus station to get back to the cars.

NOTE 10AM START THIS WEEK TO ALLOW FOR BREW BREAK AT CAFE AT 11AM. Led by NWUK Instructor Susan Spain, the `Thursday Thunderer Workout Walk` is a 1 hour moderate to faster pace Workout Walk starting from different locations in the Salford area. These energising sessions will help you rebuild your stamina and fitness levels, push that pace without compromising on technique plus work on strength and core fitness. For those who have completed a Power of the Poles or Learn to Nordic walk course and have their Freedom code.  Incorporates motivating drills and exercises using Gears 1, 2 and .... maybe some Gear 3. Will also incorporates some technique work to help you get the most out of your Nordic Walking. 

This week - starting from Parr Fold Park, Walkden, Worsley. (Why not stay after the walk for the brew break social at the cafe)

Meeting point – Meet outside the park entrance at the corner of Park Road & Rutland Road. From the A580 East Lancashire Road, turn onto the A575 Walkden Road. After passing Worsley College on your left, at the mini roundabout turn left onto Park Road (circa 0.5 mile from A580). Then turn left into Rutland Road as you reach the end of the park. There is a large layby to park as you turn into Rutland Road. Please don't block driveways. We will meet at the park entrance on Rutland Road.

Toilet facilities are available at the cafe after the walk (along with the usual hot drinks and snacks) which opens at 11am. 

Poles can be hired on the day for £1 (coin)

With qualified Instructors guidance, they will help you to learn how to walk well and gain more out of your walking. We also look at how to be mindful within your surroundings and practice a breathing exercise.

As we look at the Total Body, you will have a chance to join in some light exercises and WALX yoga with poles (no floor work in the mud, you will be please to hear) or some general balance work.

There is something for everyone as we cater for all levels of fitness, from functional needs to marathons.

We meet at the far end of the Horseshoe Clump car park.

Location Notes Esher Common is a Nature Reserve and is part of South West Surrey's 890 acre Site of Special Scientific Interest.

This session is ideal for those wanting to improve their fitness & who just want to have a Nordic Walk, fresh air and chat. Start times and locations vary to give variety on a week by week basis so please check carefully each week but will be in the Salford area. 

THIS  WEEK - PARR FOLD PARK, WALKDEN, SALFORD. (Start time of walk is 11.40am but why not join us at the cafe for a brew break social beforehand at 11am)

Meeting point – Meet at the cafe just inside the park entrance at the corner of Park Road & Rutland Road. From the A580 East Lancashire Road, turn onto the A575 Walkden Road. After passing Worsley College on your left, at the mini roundabout turn left onto Park Road (circa 0.5 mile from A580). Then turn left into Rutland Road as you reach the end of the park. There is a large layby to park as you turn into Rutland Road. Please don't block driveways. We will meet at the cafe, just inside the park entrance on Rutland Road by the playground. 

Google Maps  - search for 2 Rutland Road, Walkden, Worsley which is opposite the layby parking.

Toilet facilities are available at the cafe (along with the usual hot drinks and snacks). 

Poles can be hired on the day for £1 (coin).
