Brisk and Burning

Nordic Walking can quickly build your general fitness, but adding some specific exercises will help you to perform better and keep improving your fitness.

In these walks we will do interval sessions (alternating between fast (gear 3, speedhyking) and slow (gear 2) Nordic Walking and hill drills in combination with muscular strength and endurance exercises. But we will also pay attention to balance and coordination in a variety of exercises. 

This is for members with a Nordic Walking UK FREEDOM passport.

An excellent way to start the week is with a Nordic Walx on a Monday or Wednesday in and around Stanmore and Harrow Weald. A comfortably paced walk for you to enjoy in a social atmosphere, the qualified Exercise Referral Instructor will lead you through a warm up, a short walk making stops along the way if needed and working on posture. Exercise bands are often used to give the legs a rest if required to work on the upper body. A sociable enjoyable session finishing with a stretch and then if the weather is dry a cuppa in the park.

 

A 45 minute walk also goes at this time for those of you who would prefer a longer option to the referral walk and a shorter option to the 60 minute walk.

Find out how to use fitness walking poles to achieve the results YOU want.

This 2 PART COURSE will help you understand how to select the right kind of poles and use them for health, fitness, fun or challenges.  

This course is delivered over 2 x 1.5-hour sessions:

·         The first session will ensure you get the correct movement and technique using strapless poles

·         The second session will enable you to practice your technique and we will then help you select the right poles and walks for YOU!
