Walk Description:
Our walk starts and ends at Denham Station. The distance of approximately 11 miles is a bit longer than normal but it should appeal to anyone who is preparing for the Purbeck Festival. We start off through the wetlands of the Colne River and the Grand Union Canal then head into Bayhurst Wood, part of the ancient Forest of Middlesex. Our return takes us back to the Colne Valley Visitor Centre and through the pretty village of Denham (good pubs). It could be muddy on some sections of the walk.
The walk can be shortened by about 2 miles by starting and finishing at the Colne Valley Visitor Centre - you would need to travel by car for this option. Let Sue know if you plan to do this so we can arrange to meet you there.
Our longer Explorer WALX are open to all, exploring beautiful areas in and around London. Routes are planned with breaks and the opportunity for refreshments but this isn't just a ramble; we'll encourage the good posture and motivation to push yourself as we do in all our WALX.
If you'd like to benefit from using Nordic walking poles, we advise you attend a Learn to Nordic WALX workshop. Walkers without poles or with trekking poles are very welcome.
Monthly Payment clients £10; Pre-paid Credit clients £16 - price adjusted at payment.
Time: Meet at the entrance to Denham Station ready to start at 10.30 am.
Regular trains run from Marylebone to Denham taking about 30 minutes. You are advised to catch the 9.52 am departure which arrives at Denham at 10.23 am
