Walk Description:

10.30am start time. Please note change to location due to bridge closure at Chorlton Water Park. Led by NWUK Instructor Susan Spain, the 'Monday Blaster Workout Walk' is a 1 hour moderate to faster pace Workout Walk. These energising sessions will help you rebuild your stamina and fitness levels, push that pace without compromising on technique plus work on strength and core fitness. For those who have completed a Power of the Poles or Learn to Nordic walk course and have their Freedom code.  Incorporates motivating drills and exercises using Gears 1, 2 and .... maybe some Gear 3. Will also incorporates some technique work to help you get the most out of your Nordic Walking. 

Meeting point - Parrs Wood Road/Broad Oak Lane junction. Plenty of on road parking. From the traffic lights on Wilmslow Road (A574)/Parrs Wood Road junction turn right onto Parrs Wood Road if coming from Didsbury/left if coming from the A34 Kingsway. Continue down Parrs Wood Road to its junction with Broad Oak Lane where there is a footpath access to Millgate Fields. Plenty of on road parking but please respect the access to driveways. (Nearerst house is 561, Parrs Wood Road, M20 5GQ if using Google Maps)

There are no toilet facilities at the venue however the Tesco Superstore at East Didsbury as you turn from the A34 Kingsway onto the A574 Wilmslow Road has toilet facilities which you could visit before driving the short distance to the meeting point. 

What3Words:///eager.twist.using will take you to the exact meeting point of the footpath to Millgate Fields. 

Google Maps: search for 554 Parrs Wood Road, Manchester M20 5QT which is the house directly next to the meeting point. 

Enjoy the lovely woodland, fields & pathways of Millgate Fields, Stenner Woods & Fletcher Moss, Didsbury flanked by the River Mersey, a great place for a Workout Walk. 

Strapless or strapped Nordic walking poles may be hired at a cost of £1 (coin on the day). 

We will be walking on both grass and paths so make sure you’re wearing supportive shoes/trainers with a good tread that you are happy to get dirty and comfortable clothing appropriate for the weather. Paws will be required (on and off on different terrains). Hats, sunscreen and insect repellent will also be required when the weather dictates it! 

Please remember to bring 1 - bottle of water or a hot drink in a flask 2 - any medications/inhalers you may need 3 - a small rucksack as you`ll need both hands free at all times 4 - a mobile phone is useful for any last minute notifications.

From the A5145 Wilmslow Road/Parrswood Road junction traffic lights, turn right onto Parrs Wood Road if coming from Didsbury Village/Left if from the A34 Kingsway. The meeting point is at the junction of Parrs Wood Road and Broad Oak Lane where there is a footpath leading to Millgate Fields. Plenty of on road parking. Please ensure you respect the access to driveways.
