Walk Description:

Discover the heritage of New Mills, walking over the Millenium Bridge, through The Torrs and along the Sett Valley Trail before ascending over the hill to drop down to the outskirts of Furness Vale where we will join the canal towpath to make out way back to Hague Bar.

The route starts with a gentle riverside pathway through Mousley Bottom Nature Reserve to join The Torrs Riverside Park via the Millenium Walkway. After walking through The Torrs we begin a gentle ascent along the Sett Valley Trail.  Leaving the trail just after Thornsett we cross Hayfield Road to ascend steadily up the hill before dropping down through woodland towards Furness Vale.  Skirting Goytside Meadows Nature Reserve, we then take the canal towpath back towards Disley before descending via Waterside Road back to the car park.

Overall elevation gain for the route is 245m.
