Walk Description:

Note 10.20am meet up for a prompt 10.30am start. Led by Walk Leader, Miriam Kletz  The Fire up your Friday walk is an moderate pace of around 5-6 miles, ideal for those who who would like to build their distance and stamina. The walks are based in countryside locations easily accessed from the East Lancashire Road (A580) or M56/M60/M62/M61 corridors.  Get some great Nordic Walking exercise, fresh air and chat! When allowed/feasible there is an optional brew stop at a local cafe or pub after the walk or sometimes a bring your own mid walk 'Rucksack cafe'.  

THIS MONTH - Join Miriam for Dingle, Dam & Bongs from Spud Wood Car Park, Lymm with an optional post walk lunch at the Barn Owl. Enjoy the beautiful woodlands starting from Spud Wood & enjoy the tranquil surrounding of Lymm Dam, The Dingle &  the ancient wetland area known as the Bongs on this walk of 5.5miles. The walk may still be muddy in places so come prepared even in summer. No toilet facilities during the walk but plenty of places for a 'wild stop'. The nearest facilities are at the lovely cafes in Lymm Village if you want to stop for a drink before the walk, or at Lymm Truck Stop services on the roundabout at the junction of the M6 & M56. There will be facilities at the Barn Owl after the walk for the post walk lunch. Please let Miriam know when booking if you want to stay for lunch. Cars will be left at the Spud Wood car park a short 5 minute walk from the Barn Owl. 

Meeting point: Spud Wood Car Park, Stage Lane, WA13 9JP - Leave the M56 at either junction 7 or 8 depending on which direction you are coming from. At the Bowden roundabout take the A56 Lymm Road. Turn right onto Warrington Road. Turn right onto the B5169 cross over the canal bridge then turn left into Stage Lane. The entrance to the recently enlarged & resurfaced car park is on the left hand side.

PLEASE NOTE, you need to have your own poles to attend this walk as no poles will be available for hire on the day unless by prior arrangement. 

We will be walking on both grass and paths so make sure you’re wearing supportive shoes/trainers/boots with a good tread that you are happy to get dirty and comfortable clothing appropriate for the weather. Paws will be required (on and off on different terrains). 

Please remember to bring 1 - bottle of water and an energy boosting snack 2 - any medications you may need 3 - a small rucksack as you`ll need both hands free at all times 4 - a mobile phone is useful for any last minute notifications. Depending on the time of year you may need sunscreen, insect repellent and a hat ( if hot) and gloves, warm clothing and a flask (if cold!).

Unfortunately, refunds are not allowed after this time. Please contact Miriam directly via phone/text on 07940 494791 if you need to cancel nearer to the start time so we’re not waiting for you. Likewise, please phone/text as well as using the online system if you want to book on at the last minute - we don`t want to go without you!
