Walk Description:

Note 10.20am meet up for a prompt 10.30am start. Led this  month by Walk Leader, Miriam Kletz The '2024 Ice Cream Friday Tour' is a series of monthly walks of moderate pace, of between 5 & 7 miles, ideal for those who love ice-cream and great countryside walking locations around Lancashire & Cheshire!  They will be led by our walk leaders Ruth Evans & Miriam Kletz & run monthly on a Friday between April & September 2024. Get some great Nordic Walking exercise, fresh air and chat!

THIS MONTH - Join Miriam for the fourth 2024 Ice Cream Tour walk of the year & enjoy Daresbury Dairy Ice Cream & the Lewis Carroll trail starting from the Ring O' Bells, Chester Road, Daresbury with optional post walk lunch at the Ring O'Bells. Daresbury is steeped in history and on this 6 mile route we follow the Lewis Carroll trail, detouring briefly to enjoy an ice cream at Daresbury Dairy en route. The route follows field paths, tracks and some quiet lanes taking in many of Lewis Carroll’s links – famous for his Alice in Wonderland and through the Looking Glass stories there is more to the man than we perhaps know, so a visit the nearby Lewis Carroll centre (free admission) after lunch, located near to the pub is an opportunity not to be missed (see website link below for more information) . An optional lunch at the Ring O’ Bells enables us to peep inside the former courthouse where the early 19th century building still has a session room where court proceedings once took place and at the front of the pub there is a listed old stone horse stop and trough. Please let Miriam know if you wish to stay for lunch after the walk. Toilet facilities available at the pub after the walk. Opportunites for going 'wild' along the way!
