Walk Description:

Join Angela for a 3 mile wander in Wareham Forest

We will set off through the trees taking our time to walk up a gentle incline to the viewpoint at the top of Great Ovens, from where, visibility permitting, you can see Creech Barrow Hill, Corfe Castle and Poole Harbour in the distance.

We will circumnavigate the Great Ovens Nature Reserve; home to sand lizards and lots of birds including the Stonechat. From there we follow the edge of the forest and adjacent farmland before turning up a track back into the forest where we will climb to another viewpoint and wander along some lesser used trails, finally coming back onto the main track looking over towards Creech and down to the car park.

There will be some uneven ground, quite a few tree roots and several gentle inclines.

There is free parking but no toilet facilities.

Location Notes:

Walking on gravel tracks with some good hills. A good pace walk. Free parking.
