MIKE`S LONGER 2-3 HOUR TUESDAY WANDERER MONTHLY WALK (meet at 10.20am for a prompt 10.30am start time) - Led by Parks and Pathways Walk Leader Mike Podmore. It will be a moderate pace 2 -3 hour walk of around 5 to 8 miles from different locations taking place once a month when Mike is available.

THIS MONTH - Exploring New Mills Circular: Torrs Riverside Park, Peak Forest canal and Goytside Meadows Nature Reserve. This is a 5.6 mile walk and is on excellent tracks/paths for the complete walk. There is one set of steps to ascend/descend and one gradual steep hill to get from the River Goyt up to the canal. The walk will take us down some steps to join a path through the woods running parallel to the River Sett. Entering Torrs Riverside Park where we pass the Torrs Hydro to join a path running alongside the River Goyt. Crossing the Torrs Millenium Walkway we join the Goyt Way which follows the River Goyt passing through Mousley Bottom wood before we cross Hague Bridge. Wooded paths then take us to join the Peak Forest canal passing through New Mills Marina to enter Goytside Meadows Nature Reserve. Passing Furness Vale Marina we leave the canal following a country road for a short distance before heading across fields back into Torrs Riverside Park and back to our start point. Public toilets are available in the Leisure Centre. It's a rucksack cafe today so please bring a snack/drink as we will stop for lunch.
