Walk Description:

Explore Canford Heath, avoiding the steeper slopes. The walk is 2.7 miles with wooded areas and lovely heath views.

This is a social walk suitable for those who prefer a slower paced walk.

Canford Heath is an SSSI due to the rare habitat and wildlife. It is the largest heath in Dorset, and the largest lowland heath in the U.K. It is home to rare species including the smooth snake, sand lizard and Dartford Warbler. Cattle may be seen helping to manage the heathland by conservation grazing.

The route starts on a flat red brick path. We then take a sandy path with a gentle incline. We walk around the Heath which is all relatively flat. We walk back along Longfleet Drive, once the carriage drive from Canford Manor to Poole, before returning to the start.

Terrain includes stone paths, sand, and sometimes mud.

Street parking on Tollerford Road between Holywell Close and Stourpaine Road. Alternative parking opposite in Cogdeane or Edgarton Roads.
