Walk Description:

Power of Poles Intro Session (Beginners Course)   This is a great way to get started with Nordic walking, whether for health, fitness or simply exercising effectively outside.In this 90mins session, you'll learn the basics of Nordic walking, gaining the skills to get the most from your own walking as well as being able to join national Nordic Walking UK and WALX classes.Locally, you'll be able to book into any of our I'd Rather Be Outdoors Nordic Walksstraight away and enjoy effective, total body walking on a variety of walks in different settings.Walking with poles is less stressful on the joints, it makes you walk faster with very little extra effort, it works your upper body as well as the legs.The result being more effective calorie burning, stronger core and toning of the upper body.   For this course we will meet at the small kiosk in the main car park.  Once this session is completed you will be able to book on two short walks or one long walk with myself at your level. (Must be taken within two - four weeks of the course)      Poles are provided for the course.   Booking Essential  

Tips to help get the most out of your walk:

1  Suitable clothing and footwear - layers are best (no Jeans)

2  A small rucksac (no Shoulder bags)

3  Light refreshments (water, fruit juice, etc)

4 Mobile phone is useful for any last minute changes

5 Walk Leaders mobile number

 

Dogs - No dogs on courses

First Aid - You will need to bring your own basic First Aid Kit (Plasters, Bite and Sting Cream, Suncream etc recommended)

The walk includes a short mobilisation of joints prior to walking and a cool down stretch at the end.
