Walk Description:

From one hour WALX in your local country park to a half day in the hills, our Explorer WALX capture the variety of scenery, themes and types of WALX that suit your lifestyle. If you love WALX to the pub or WALX with the dog or simply WALX in wild locations we have them all! Whether long, short, tough or gentle we welcome all ages and all levels.

Today`s Walk:  This is a two ridge walk & involves a full descent to the valley floor and a steep climb back up only on one part of the walk as the top of the Oare road connects the two ridges. It is challenging walk of around 7 miles with some steep climbs and descents. But you are reawarded with sweeping iconic Wiltshisre views across to Ridgeway, Salsibury plain and Pewsey Vale.

This walk is a longer walk and is open to non-polers. If you would like to try poles please contact me in advance to arrange to borrow some of our strapless activiator poles.

Length and Grade: A 6 mile walk with some ascents and descents. We walk from Martinsell Hill car park to the top of the ridge above Oare. The walking over to Huish and then down and back through Oare House gardens. A steep ascent back to the top of Giants Grave and up to the start.

Location: Start at the car park at Clench.

Notes: There are no facilites on this walk so please bring a snack/drink for a mid walk break where we can sit and take in the views (weather permitting).

Location Notes:

The car park is found off the A345 Marlborough to Pewsey Rd at turn off to Clench Common. If you are coming from Marlborough you turn left at this jucntion (from Pewsey would be right) After you turn off this road drive about 2/3 mile and the car park is on your right after some woods. Please note this is a remote car park used by walkers. Do not leave any valuables in your car in plain sight.
