Walk Description:

A walk starting in shade under trees. From the large free carpark at Appleslade we will take a route

through Red Shoot woods until we reach the river at Linford Bottom. The river meanders along this pretty

valley.

Only accessible in dry weather, this area is waterlogged/muddy in winter.

The route is then uphill to Rockford Common.

The views are lovely from here. We will then make our way down hill to the carpark.

The Red Shoot pub is nearby for drinks afterwards or a short drive away is Hockey's farm shop/cafe.

Please allow time for reaching the walk due to the forest animals that tend to be on the roads at times.

Location Notes:

Large free carpark under trees. Nearest facilities are at The red Shoot Inn which has a micro brewery 5 minutes away. Allow extra time to drive through this part of the New Forest as the road narrows. Half the walk is under trees so beware of tree roots.
