Walk Description:

From one hour WALX in your local country park to a half day in the hills, our Explorer WALX capture the variety of scenery, themes and types of WALX that suit your lifestyle. If you love WALX to the pub or WALX with the dog or simply WALX in wild locations we have them all! Whether long, short, tough or gentle we welcome all ages and all levels.

On Fridays we like to start and end our walk (or drive a short way) at a local cafe. The walks are around 4-5 miles and take around 2 hours.

Poles are optional on an Open WALX - if you would like to try some poles please contact me in advance.

Today's Walk: Avebury Village up to the start of Ridgeway, West Kennet Long Barrow and Silbury Hill

Pace & Intensity: Fairly moderate paced walk suitable for most abilities.

Gradient: there are some hills which can be taken slowly. Also a number of stiles on this route.

Miles: This walk is around 5 miles.

Notes: Park in the NT car park (charges apply to non members - I have one spare parking pass for those who are not members please contact me in advance).

We can then have a coffee/tea at either NT cafe or the Community cafe at the end of the walk.

Location Notes:

The NT car park has charges but is free to members. If you are not a member I have one spare car park pass which I allocate on a first come first service or you can park in the Red Lion pub which is £3 and then walk back to meet us at the main car park. There are toilets in the village near Avebury Manor.
