Walk Description:
From Corfe Mullen recreation ground we walk down to a series of fields taking in the views across to Badbury rings and Wimborne Minster.
Crossing a main road and passing along a quiet road we turn left down a track and come out at Ashington Lane.
Passing several Lady Wimborne cottages in the conservation area we then cross a field. This area can be wet. We go down a short path (that can get overgrown) which takes us to Ashington cutting, an old disused railway line. The path to get there is undulating and has steep steps.
From here up a lane to a loop around Rushcombe Bottom, then across a field to a bridleway leading to Happy Bottom. The fields in this area are part of the nature park.
Happy Bottom is a small nature reserve which is part of the Corfe Barrows Nature park partnership with local landowners.
This partnership is designed to allow visitors to enjoy the local countryside and wildlife.
There is a stream which flows towards the river Stour.
We exit on a path which is briefly steep.
Returning back over the main road and across the rec to the cars.
The rec can be breezy as it is quite high up. The views are lovely.
There are toilets.
Lots of free parking. Please meet near the Brownie hut. Walk is about 4.5 miles.
(Please note there may be a closed road into Corfe Mullen from the Wimborne side. If so please follow
signs and turn left just past the Alpaca farm and near the church.)
