Walk Description:
From the Potting Shed cafe at Hyde a circular walk across Hyde common with it's fantastic views across the plain towards Hasley hill inclosure and in the other direction to the Purbecks on a clear day.
Down to Ogdens and across the bridge at Latchmore brook then round to Woodford Bottom.
Onto a wide trail beside Dockens Water passing several properties before heading across to open heathland climbing back up and over a tumulus to return via Latchmore brook.
Then back up hill to Hyde Common via Abbott's well.
Parking is at the back of the Potting Shed cafe and we can have drinks, snacks, cakes etc. Food stops being served at 2 45pm. Toilets inside cafe. I will book a table for everyone.
The walk is around 3 hours and 6.5 miles long. It is an easy walk on gravel/sandy paths along with wide forest trails. A couple of short hills only. A very open walk which can be breezy and also muddy in a couple of places.
Allow plenty of time to drive in the New Forest as there are a lot of ponies and donkeys who take no notice of traffic.
Location Notes:
Please park at the back of the cafe. The Potting Shed serves delicious food. Option to go in after the walk for refreshments.
