Walk Description:

We’ll kick start our senses (and our body) with a warm up in the Sandymere car park before getting into our stride walking along the edge of the golf course towards Westward Ho!

On reaching the Sandymere slipway we will make our way onto the beach and continue in the direction of Appledore, rounding the headland and following the estuary (here the more energetic of the group can (should they wish to) indulge in walking in the soft sand that will not only get the blood flowing around the body but will burn off those unwanted calories too) Once opposite the outskirts of Appledore we will exit the beach into the Northam burrows. We will walk alongside the access route to the exit point where we have choices: Option 1 - having crossed the bridge we can remain within the boundary of the burrows and follow various pathways across the uneven ground before eventually crossing the golf course to our start point. Option 2 – we can exit the burrows via the lane which we will follow (passing by the newly constructed dog training area) until we join the lower Appledore road. This is a very busy narrow road so care must be taken and the group must remain in single file at all times. At the T junction we turn right & venture along Sandymere road that takes us through the very centre of the golf course and back to our start point for the cool down. Following which there is the opportunity to take refreshments in the Pebble ridge kitchen at the visitors centre.
