Walk Description:

Gentle WALX that incorporates balance work, flexibility and strength exercises and maybe a bit of tai chi or relaxation too.

A gentle safe way to walk yourself fitter. Join our Wellbeing WALX Guides on a sociable, fun and enjoyable walk. We use strapped Nordic or Total Body Walking Poles, or you can walk without if you prefer. If you have your own poles then bring them along with you.

Walking and incorporating specially designed exercises that improve joint mobility, balance and strength, posture and reducing weight from hips, knees and ankles. Great for those who are getting back into exercise, have a health condition or simply want to move well and be fit for life! Our wellness guides are qualified to deliver WALX for all levels so it’s never too late to take that first step.

Suitable for those who want to build up to longer or more vigorous walks or may have concerns about their health. We like to give some different challenges, which are all appropriate for your levels of fitness and physical ability.

If you are feeling lonely and want to make more friends, feel stiff and lack energy, struggle to get out of your chair; then this class is exactly for you. It will get you moving whilst having fun and all sessions are adapted to ensure everyone feels part of the club.

The route taken across the Chase varies each week but the intention is to take a midweek walk with a gentle intensity of approximately 2 miles exploring the picturesque Cannock Chase.

We offer a chance to catch up and chat with friends or if you prefer to enjoy being outdoors but want some time to yourself then relax and let us worry about the route and you can enjoy your surroundings safely.

Refreshments and toilets are available.

Our WALX Guides are professional, qualified and passionate about making your WALX unforgettable!

Remember: Monthly membership gives you unlimited WALX for only £19.99 per month

It is essential to register and book in advance online.

Safety measures.

Our online health questionnaire (PARQ) asks you to update your current health status. If you feel unwell between booking your class and joining us, we ask that you err on the side of caution and cancel your booking. You will be directed to book another date or a refund can be issued.

You are asked to contact your instructor by phone, leave a voicemail, or send an SMS to the number below if you are likely to be delayed as we start WALX promptly.

Whilst we do understand that sometimes it is not possible to make a WALX, please make every effort to advise the WALX Guide.

We undertake to deliver all WALX with qualified staff and have made every effort to risk assess all routes. On occasions, it is necessary to make dynamic risk assessment decisions when there is a localised incident such as fallen trees on the route, flooding, traffic changes, etc.

Please ensure you have completed the online health questionnaire (PARQ) and notify us in writing if you have any change to your medical records or physical or mental wellbeing. This should include any surgery, falls, knocks or accidents. Thank you.

Location Notes:

Car park is located opposite the White House on the junction of Marquis Drive and Penkridge Bank Rd. There are no toilets or refreshments available, although the visitor centres (opening times apply) at Marquis Drive and Birches Valley are both within 2 miles of the car park and both have cafes and toilets.
