Walk Description:

Note 10.20am meet up for a prompt 10.30am start. Led by Walk Leader, Ruth Evans  The Fire up your Friday walk is an moderate pace of around 4-5 miles, ideal for those who who would like to build their distance and stamina. The walks are based in countryside locations easily accessed from the East Lancashire Road (A580) or M56/M60/M62/M61 corridors.  Get some great Nordic Walking exercise, fresh air and chat! When allowed/feasible there is an optional brew stop at a local cafe or pub after the walk or sometimes a bring your own mid walk 'Rucksack cafe'.  

THIS WEEK - Join Ruth for a 4 mile winter walk through the lovely woodland and pathways of Chorlton and Ivy Green,  following the paths by Chorlton Brook to Chorlton Ees Nature Reserve and the River Mersey. There is the option to stay for a post walk lunch in Chorlton/Beech Road (venue tbc nearer the time). Please let Ruth know if you want to stay for lunch when you book the walk.

The route will more than likely be muddy in places so boots recommended! There are no toilet facilities at the start point except in a pub/cafe if you plan ahead & arrive early for a brew before the walk. However the route includes a mid walk toilet stop & possibly a mid walk brew too & there are toilet facilities if you stay for lunch at the end. 

Meeting point -  Brookburn Road Car Park opposite The Bowling Green Inn. From the A5145 Barlow Moor Road turn onto Beech Road then second left onto Reynard Road which turns into Claude Road, then into Brookburn Road. The car park where we will meet is on the left hand side just before The Bowling Green pub. Use Sat Nav postcode M21 9ES. If approaching from the Edge Lane, Stretford direction, turn into St Clements Road which becomes Brookburn Road and the car park is on the right just after The Bowling Green pub.   PLEASE  NOTE THAT THERE IS A HEIGHT RESTRICTION FOR VEHICLES AS YOU ENTER THE CAR PARK.

PLEASE NOTE, you need to have your own poles to attend this walk as no poles will be available for hire on the day unless by prior arrangement. 

The walk will start and finish promptly so give yourself plenty of time. 

We will be walking on both grass and paths so make sure you’re wearing supportive shoes/trainers with a good tread that you are happy to get dirty and comfortable clothing appropriate for the weather. Paws will be required (on and off on different terrains). 

Please remember to bring 1 - bottle of water and an energy boosting snack 2 - any medications you may need 3 - a small rucksack as you`ll need both hands free at all times 4 - a mobile phone is useful for any last minute notifications. Depending on the time of year you may need sunscreen, insect repellent and a hat ( if hot) and gloves, warm clothing and a flask (if cold!).

Unfortunately, refunds are not allowed after this time. Please contact Ruth directly via phone/text on 07963 893629 if you need to cancel nearer to the start time so we’re not waiting for you. Likewise, please phone/text as well as using the online system if you want to book on at the last minute - we don`t want to go without you!
