Walk Description:

An approximately 6.5/7 mile circular walk taking in the reservoirs above Marsden 

A circular walk taking in the reservoirs above Marsden. 

It begins with a steep flight of steps, then levels out on pathways that can become uneven or slab stone. There is a couple more short steep climbs and a stream to cross that hopefully will be only a trickle.

We cross open moorland around the 4 reservoirs with far reaching views, before descending back down into Marsden.

The weather can change quickly so please come prepared with sunscreen and waterproofs

Important Information

Distance: approx 7 miles

Terrain: paths, quiet lanes, some uneven ground, hills. Paths might be muddy after rain

Stiles: none

Toilets: none

Car parking: free

Food: The Little Lock - menu. Let Tina know by end of Weds 14 August if you'd like to stop

Please bring enough to drink and a snack (or snacks!) if you would like one

If you need to borrow poles, please let Tina know when booking. The walk is along good paths, but some can get muddy. Dress appropriately for the weather, and don’t forget waterproofs (if needed!)

We will set off promptly at 09:30am so please try to arrive at least 10mins early so you are ready to go. Please do not be offended if we do not wait whilst you get yourself sorted. We do a warm up close by so please do catch up.

Contact Tina directly if you are running late/need to cancel. Similarly, if you book onto the walk on the same day as the walk, please text so we know to wait for you.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations more than 24hrs before a walk can be made on the Exercise Anywhere booking system. Cancellations made less than 24hrs before a walk will not be refunded and cannot be made on the system - please contact Tina either by phone or text to cancel.

Parking in National Trust car park (free) Drive along Station Rd, turn right opposite the Railway pub along a cobbled road, go past the National Trust office to the car park Toilets: Standedge Visitor Centre (10 min walk / 2 min drive)
