Walk Description:
Murals or Street Art are getting quite popular in towns now and we have quite a collection in ours.
Join us for a 10km walk where we will see at least 10 and I will share with you the meanings and representation of some of them. Starting from our favourite park, make our way through Preston looking at the murals and then chance for a cuppa before returning along the river.
The mother – symbol of the lamb seems to have become associated with Preston through its connection to the parish church – John the Baptist. - stating that Jesus was the Lamb of God. Preston coat of arms PP – Peace of Peace.
Mile 0/21 - depicts the start of the Guild wheel, created as part of the guild celebration.
Pauline in the yellow dress – depiction of a painting hung in the Harris Museum.
Betsy Leigh –people took pride in the quality of the cotton cloth it weaved which made the town.
It is essential to register and book in advance online.
