Walk Description:

Canford Park Sang. (Suitable Alternative Natural Greenspace)

This flat walk offers superb river views and is around three miles long.

This is a social walk suitable for those who prefer a slower paced walk.

This area, which opened in June 2019 is on the southern bank of the river Stour.

There is ample free parking. Please meet at the dog wash in the first car park on the right, or if full use the overflow car park opposite. (Not the new car park which is further along).

There is a coffee van half way round.

The Sang is popular with dog walkers. Dogs are welcome on this walk and have access to the river at two points along the banks.

Please note slippy after rain as walking on stoney paths. Wear suitable footwear. If hot the route is exposed.

The first 35 minutes are beside the river with lovely views and the opportunity to see herons, swans and other birds like kingfishers.

I understand otters have been sighted but not by me yet....

On the return route we pass near a lake on our left and Canford School grounds on the right, along with AFC Bournemouth training ground. This area is a work in progress.

Nearest toilets are at Canford Magna garden centre which has a coffee shop. The toilets are towards the back of the building.

An alternative for coffee/lunch is the Bear Cross pub but less easy to park.

Location Notes:

Large free parking area at the end of a gated road with a height restriction which used to lead to Canford Magna Golf Course. Gates open between dawn and dusk. Meet in the main car park on the right
