Walk Description:
Starting from a residential road we enter Parley Common.
Parley Common comes under SSSI status. It is where the Smooth snake was discovered in 1852 in the UK.
The common is manged by ARC but the majority of the land is owned by the Canford estate. It is an
important area for rare invertebrates such as sand lizards.
The common is an important example of lowland heath and supports many species of birds, the silver blue
butterfly and rare plants.
We will take a circular walk around the nature reserve which has lovely views over Ferndown Golf course.
Nearet toilets at Parley cross in the carpark near Tesco express.
Please park around the road side near Lone Pine Drive or just round the corner. There is plenty of space to park.
This walk is 2.5 miles and suitable for people wanting to build their walking up.
Location Notes:
Drive past Lone Pine Drive residential park, then park near the "private road, no turning" sign. (CP)
