Walk Description:

Note 10.20am meet up for a prompt 10.30am start. Led by Walk Leader, Ruth Evans  The Fire up your Friday walk is an moderate pace of around 5-6 miles, ideal for those who who would like to build their distance and stamina. The walks are based in countryside locations easily accessed from the East Lancashire Road (A580) or M56/M60/M62/M61 corridors.  Get some great Nordic Walking exercise, fresh air and chat! When allowed/feasible there is an optional brew stop at a local cafe or pub after the walk or sometimes a bring your own mid walk 'Rucksack cafe'.

THIS WEEK - Join Ruth for another, slightly different, walk up into Lyme Park starting from Nelson Pit Car Park. This 5 mile walk will take a more gradual climb up to Lyme Park. We head out from Nelson Pit along the Middlewood Way, and then take a gentler, scenic climb up to Lyme Park via Ryles Wood. We will make a quick stop for refreshments at the cafe in Lyme Park, and then head back to Nelson Pit via Throstlenest Farm, and the Macclesfield Canal. The Middlewood Way follows the line of the former Macclesfield, Bollington and Marple railway, closed to rail traffic in 1970, and re-opened for walkers, cyclists and horse-riders in 1985. At the end of the walk, there are various options for post-walk refreshments/food for those who wish to participate!  Bring a drink with you on the walk just in the case we can't stop at the cafe.
