Walk Description:
This walk takes us along the Regent Canal from the genteel Angel in Islington through some of the edgier parts of East London out to the Limehouse Basin and on to Canary Wharf. We will pass Prime Minister's houses, see barge life on the canal, chinese pagodas and sharks (yes really!). This area has seen alot of regeneration in recent years and it's fun to see a slightly different side of the Capital! The Limehouse Basin is fascinating as the gateway between the River Thames and over 2000 miles of navigable rivers and canals!
Of course there are lots of fab independent cafes along the route where we can stop for refreshment - including Ian McKellan's riverside pub, The Grapes, with its wonderful riverside terrace!
The walk is approxinately 6.5 miles. Please meet to get the 9:10 train from Tonbridge Station and we will head to the Angel in Islington where we will start our walk. We will finish at Canary Wharf tube station.
If you have partners or friends who would like to join this walk too - please just let me know and they are welcome to join us! I will lend them some poles.
I am unable to offer this as a free walk for DD payers. I will contact you seperately after booking, to arrange payment.
Location Notes:
Park in surrounding streets or paid car parks and meet inside main entrance to the station
