Walk Description:

For those who have completed the Power of Poles Introduction course – these action-packed sixty-minute walks are designed to help you to improve your fitness levels and gain FAST results. Your qualified WALX Guide will encourage you to push your pace and use the stunning Cannock Chase hills to add intensity to this fast paced Nordic Walk.

The session is walked at a comfortable gear 2 pace so no worries of holding anyone back!  A lot of fun with great motivation from both the WALX Guide as well as your group.

Nordic Walking is an enhancement of ordinary walking – it makes something we can all do… twice as effective! Nordic Walking uses poles in order to add two major benefits to walking.

The use of poles means the upper body muscles are used as well as the legs The poles help to propel the walker along – this means he/she works harder than usual yet the support given by the poles makes it feel easier!

Nordic Walking is a specific fitness technique and is not to be confused with trekking, hill walking or trail running as the poles are not planted in front of the walker/runner but in a specific way that increases the use of the upper body. It can be done by anybody, anywhere and does not require expensive equipment or clothing.

Note: To participate in regular Nordic WALX, you must have completed our Getting Started with Poles session and gained your Freedom Passport.

A gentle and safe way to walk yourself fit.  Exercises include flexibility, mobility, balance and strength.  For people who may be concerned about their health or recovering from injury and want to build up gently in order to improve confidence and join a faster walk.

Variety is the key to any progression, so these Nordic WALX will continually change in location, hills and intensity.

Our WALX Guides are professional, qualified and passionate about making our WALX unforgettable!

Safety measures.

Our online health questionnaire (PARQ) asks you to update your current health status. If you feel unwell between booking your class and joining us, we ask that you err on the side of caution and cancel your booking. You will be directed to book another date or a refund can be issued.

You are asked to contact your instructor by phone, leave a voicemail, or send an SMS to the number below if you are likely to be delayed as we start WALX promptly.

Whilst we do understand that sometimes it is not possible to make a WALX, please make every effort to advise the WALX Guide.

We undertake to deliver all WALX with qualified staff and have made every effort to risk assess all routes. On occasions, it is necessary to make dynamic risk assessment decisions when there is a localised incident such as fallen trees on the route, flooding, traffic changes, etc.

Please ensure you have completed the online health questionnaire (PARQ) and notify us in writing if you have any change to your medical records or physical or mental wellbeing. This should include any surgery, falls, knocks or accidents. Thank you.
