Walk Description:
Today's walk starts from the unique Rushden Lakes where retail meets Nature and Wildlife. A flat walk through to Stanwick Lakes offers plenty of opportunity to view the birds that visit the lakes in this wetland area. The flat nature of this track lends itself well to getting a bit of pace for sections in order to improve our Cardiovascular systems.
You may even see some Highland Cattle and Rare Breed sheep along the way.
With a stop at the Cafe at Stanwick Lakes to re-fuel before our return to Rushden Lakes.

Location Notes:
We will meet near AJ Cycles, however the toilet facilities are further down towards the cafes and the Boardwalk so please allow yourself time if you wish to use these before we head off on the walk. Described as the gateway to the Nene Wetlands nature reserve; one square mile of wild and man-made habitats, managed for wildlife and people by The Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire. From here we can explore a whole network of footpaths taking us alongside the River Nene and surrounding lakes.
