Walk Description:

This walk is a Hardy inspired walk as we follow the Hardy Way along the Wessex Ridgeway back to the carpark.

It is a circular walk with gentle ups and downs following the Ox Drove. As we get closer to Tollard Royal we will encounter a steep decline.

Tollard Royal is a very attractive little village with a small pond and seating around it.

Leaving Tollard Royal making our way back to the carpark along the Hardy Way it is a slow incline at varying degrees along the way.

The bonus is that you are on a different ridge and therefore able to see a different view.

‘Hardy Way inspired’ walks are about following the “Hardy way” by creating circular walks, long and short along the way. We could of walked the exact route  but it would have meant a few shuttle runs or a lot of road walks which are a little dangerous for groups. So, by doing as many circular routes and a few out and back routes we will be creating lots of different and interesting walks encompassing a large area of Dorset and a few just over the border walks. So look out for walks with the heading ‘Hardy Way inspired’ and we hope that you enjoy them.

Location Notes:

From Shaftesbury, take A30 towards Salisbury. In Ludwell, turn right towards Ashmore. The access road to Win Green car park is on your left, before you reach the B3081 Coming from Blandford, follow the Higher Shaftsbury road until you reach the Compton Abbas Airfield, turn right alongside the airfield. Follow the road till the end, go straight over the cross roads and then the turning to the car park is marked on your right.
