Walk Description:
Canford Heath is known for being the largest heathland in Dorset and the largest lowland heath in the UK.
Down some steps then along a path we meader up hill to reach the top of the heath. From here we will go along to the viewpoint then continue our walk.
To avoid the mud and puddles a route is taken with extensive views towards Colehill.
This does mean a short steep descent. The route is flat for a while before going gently downhill on a wide path then joins smaller sandy paths which lead back to the cars. Some areas have tree roots.
This walk is around 2.5 miles and will take just over an hour. There are no toilets.
This walk can be taken at a slower pace with several stops for water whenever you wish.
We start from the carpark on the left beside the Gravel Hill road heading towards Poole.
The carpark can appear quite full but there are often dog walkers leaving so just factor in time for parking.
(Free carpark)
Location Notes:
Meet at Gravel Hill Car Park BH17 9BQ On the left heading towards Poole.
