Walk Description:
The walk gets off in good style by leaving the pretty village of Barrowford past an ancient packhorse bridge ,following The Pendle Way alongside Pendle Water. Soon the path reaches Waters Meeting where Blacko Water joins Pendle Water.
The course of Blacko Water is followed up to Blacko Foot before turning to follow the Admergill Water up stream to skirt around the prominent Blacko Hill with its remarkable folly tower buit in 1890 by a local grocer Johnathan Stansfield to give him a better view over Ribblesdale.
The grand views over the tranquil landscape open up with meadowlands gently sloping hills and farmsteads. A stiff climb brings you out onto Admergill Pasture where the route gently descends towards Slipper Hill Reservoir.
A great walk with variety of scenery and historical interest, not too arduous and very pleasant scenery
We walk along well defined paths, across fields and grassland . There are a number of stiles to negotiate – the majority are in good order and we will take our time crossing these. The walk is 6 miles and we have a couple of hills and inclines however there is no rush and will take our time enjoying this stunning location. It is not a training walk so we can have an enjoyable day out, breath in the fresh air and admire the beautiful landscape of Pendle
