Walk Description:

Looking for the perfect way to kick off your week? Our Houghton Forest Walk is the ideal start! This 1.5-hour walkwill take you through the stunning woodland trails and bridle paths of Houghton Forest, offering a peaceful yet invigorating outdoor experience.

Each week brings something new—we change our route regularly to explore different areas of this beautiful region. Occasionally, we’ll extend the walk to the South Downs Way, taking in iconic spots like Bury Hill and Bignor Hill.

The terrain is diverse, with some hills and chalk paths, and while it can get a little muddy on wet days, the views are more than worth it! Whether it’s the rolling hills, sweeping vistas, or peaceful woodlands, you’ll be surrounded by natural beauty the whole way.

Scenic and Refreshing: Walk through woodland, bridle paths, and beautiful countryside—take in the views, breathe in the fresh air, and enjoy being outdoors.

Varied Terrain: From gentle hills to chalk paths, the terrain will challenge you while rewarding you with stunning panoramas. It’s a great way to work on your fitness in a fabulous setting.

Changing Routes: Each week brings a different adventure! With new routes to explore, you’ll never get bored—there’s always something new to discover.

Great Company: This walk is the perfect way to get active while enjoying the camaraderie of the group. The relaxed pace and supportive environment make it easy to connect with fellow walkers and enjoy some time outdoors.

PACE Explained:

PACE 1  Approximately 3 to 3.5 miles per hour. A comfortable pace for anyone who wants to walk and talk. There is time to stop and take photos etc.

PACE 2 Approximately 3.5 to 4.5 miles per hour. This is a steady pace which might make your breathing a little heavier, especially on the hills.

PACE 3 Approximately 4.5 to 5 miles per hour. This is for the more experienced walker who knows they can push the pace. There will be times where they will be breathless but there is also recovery (usually on the flat or downhill).

Please be assured that we have a NO DROP POLICY (no none gets left behind) and the walk leaders will always ensure we use different methods to cater for different needs within the group.
