Walk Description:
RUTH'S LONGER 2-3 HOUR TUESDAY WANDERER MONTHLY WALK (meet at 10.20am for a prompt 10.30am start time) - Led by Parks and Pathways Walk Leader Ruth Evans. It will be a moderate pace 2.5 -3 hour walk of around 5 to 8 miles from different locations taking place once a month when Ruth is available.
THIS MONTH – Highfield Country Park & Cringle Park Winter Circular from the George & Dragon pub, Heaton Chapel. This 5.5 mile walk is mostly on decent tracks/paths, ideal for a winter walk. Crossing Highfield Country Park then Holdsworth Golf course the walk follows some urban lanes which take us to the Fallowfield loop. From the Fallowfield loop we enter Cringle Park & Fields to walk on grassy tracks towards Heaton Moor Golf Club. We then follow more field paths and urban roads back to the start. There are no toilets at the start but will be available at the pub post walk. Please let Ruth know if you want to stay for the post walk lunch at the pub when you book onto the walk so she can book a table.
Meeting point – The George & Dragon Hotel car park, 422 Manchester Road, Heaton Chapel, Stockport, SK4 5DH. From the A6 Wellington Road North, turn onto School Lane B6159. At the first set of lights (Junction with Manchester Road A6188), turn left and the pub is immediately on the right. The car park entrance is on the LHS of the pub. We wlll meet in the car park.
