Walk Description:

A wonderful walk around Maiden Castle with its magnificent fortitudes. Explore with us one of the largest Iron Age hill forts in Europe.

We will be meeting at the main car park at the bottom of the Hill fort. This is a hill fort therefore it is very open to the elements so please bring some warm clothing and a warm drink and food with you.

There are no toilets at the venue.

Location Notes:

Meet in the main Maiden Castle (English Heritage) car park. No charge. The easiest way to find Maiden Castle road is to come off the ring road at the roundabout that either takes you to Weymouth, Bridport or into Dorchester Town. Follow the road into Dorchester Town which is Weymouth Avenue. You will go past Tescos, follow the Avenue up the hill towards the town centre. Near the top of the hill the turning off to Maiden Castle is signposted. Turn onto Maiden Castle road on your left. Follow the road all the way to the car park. it is quite a way and you will go past a primary school.
