Walk Description:

This walk follows a section of the London Loop from Cockfosters (Piccadilly Line) to Turkey Street (London Overground). Starting by walking through Trent Park we then go across open spaces and through woodland - there will be some muddy sections at the start but we are then on a newly made walking/cycling path which makes for very good winter walking. We come to Forty Hall - a former Jacobean mansion - towards the end of the walk where we will visti the cafe for refreshments.

Our longer Explorer WALX are open to all, exploring beautiful areas in and around London. Routes are planned with breaks and the opportunity for refreshments but this isn't just a ramble; we'll encourage the good posture and motivation to push yourself as we do in all our WALX.

If you'd like to benefit from using Nordic walking poles, we advise you attend a Learn to Nordic WALX workshop. Walkers without poles or with trekking poles are very welcome.

Time: Meet at the entrance to Cockfosters Station, Picdadilly Line (toilets and coffee kiosk) ready to start at 10.00 am

Approximate finish 2.00 pm

Return from Turkey Street London Overground; regular trains running into Liverpool Street and stopping at Tottenham Hale to link with the Victoria LIne.

Distance: 8 miles approximately, walking on a mixture of country paths and woodland tracks.

You may want to bring your own snacks to have en route, however there is a good cafe at Forty Hall  near to the end of the walk where you can get a range of hot and cold food and cakes.
