Walk Description:
It's time for "Boots & Book Club" . Our choice this month is Between the Chalk and the Sea by Gail Simmons. Inspired by an antique map found in Oxford's Bodleian Library the author walks a long forgotten path between Southampton and Canterbury. "Blending history, anthropology, etymology and geology, Gail's walk reveals the rich natural and cultural heritage found in our own doorstep". I'm really looking forward to this and wonder if it may inspire our group to walk this route too!
We will walk from Penshurst Place and return to the Porcupine cafe for coffee and book chat!
This is a perfect walk for those who want to come for a taster. We will walk at a fairly gentle pace and I will give you some tips on using the poles (or you can walk without poles if you prefer). The book discussion is informal and very relaxed. You can of course just join for the walk OR even miss the walk and come along for the book chat - just let me know!
I need a minimum of 3 people for a walk. Please cancel by 6pm the day before a walk. If you need to cancel after this time or on the day of the walk, I would ask that you just let me know that you cannot attend and the walk will remain chargeable. If a walk is to be cancelled due to insufficient numbers, I will let you know by 8pm the evening before.
Well-Being walks are gentle paced walks for all. Most people will be walking with Nordic Walking poles but this is not essential. You can walk with or without poles and no prior Nordic Walking experience is required.
Location Notes:
Free parking in the main carpark at Penshurst Place. Toilets and cafe available.
