Walk Description:
This is a fabulous collaboration between me and one of our walkers - Nikki Young. Nikki is passionate about books and is herself an author of several children's books. She teaches English and in particular, creative writing to children and young people through her company "Storymakers" and if you follow her socials you will see that she is a bit of a wordsmith and writes lovely poetry of her own.
Nikki describes her vision for this session as follows:
"I'd like to offer a poetry writing workshop based in a beautiful outdoor setting. It won't be a lecture on howe to write poetry. That's not the aim. I believe poetry comes from within and doesn't have to follow a set pattern or scheme. No, what it will be is a exercise in mindfulness, an exercise to awaken the senses and tune in to what is around us, making connections and evoking memories. I will guide you through the process along with the writing, but the aim is to find joy in the process and not to worry about the end product. Don't think "I'm not a writer, this isn't for me" because really, it's for everybody, and for anyone who wants to explore their connection with nature through words. So come on, take your shoes off, feel the Earth beneath your feet, listen, look, smell and just be"
Cost is £20 and I will request payment once you have booked. The cost includes the walk, poetry with Nikki, cake and of course some chocolate (it is Easter afterall!). Please bring a flask and coffee or whatever you fancy!
Please no cancellations after Wednesday 16April.
Well-Being walks are gentle paced walks for all. Most people will be walking with Nordic Walking poles but this is not essential. You can walk with or without poles and no prior Nordic Walking experience is required.
Location Notes:
Park along residential street - please be mindful not to block driveways. Meet in front of entrance to woods and public footpath.
