Walk Description:

Join us for the Aviator Amble, a relaxed and cheerful 7km walk starting from the ever-popular Aviator Café at Ashbourne Airfield.

This two-hour countryside loop takes you through scenic lanes, peaceful fields, and the heart of Yeaveley, passing by the quietly magnificent Stydd Hall—a local treasure with a remarkable past. Stydd Hall stands on the site of a 12th-century preceptory founded by the Knights Hospitaller, a medieval order known for protecting pilgrims and supporting the Crusades. Though the religious house was dissolved in the 16th century, remains of the original chapel can still be seen, and a 17th-century tower house now occupies the site. It’s a brilliant stop for those with a love of hidden history and heritage.

This walk is classed as easy, making it ideal for all abilities.
