Walk Description:

Setting off from the centre of Wimborne St Giles a walk in beautiful rural Dorset countryside followed by

optional afternoon tea at the village hall.

As we climb up from the village we are rewarded by views towards Penbury Knoll in one direction and

Horton Tower in the other.

Taking various trail ways we will go through woodland towards Ackling Dyke and near to the Roman

road.

The walk returns along grassy paths then partly on a quiet road.

The walk is around 7 miles and will take around 3 hours.

For the road section paws suggested on poles. Please bring plenty of water, a hat and have sunscreen

on.

There are toilets in the village hall which is a few minutes walk from the parking. The hall should be

open when we arrive.

The afternoon tea is by a different organization each Sunday and raises money to fund

upcoming projects within the charity. They all seem to accept credit cards. You can pick whatever food

you want and it is served to you. The hot drinks are then brought to your table.

Please park by the wall as you enter the village. If arriving from Wimborne direction be aware the first

turning to the village is very narrow. The second road in is a bit wider. Allow extra time for this part of

the journey.

Location Notes:

Park in the centre of the village, free on street parking opposite the school, alongside the brick wall. Meet in the same location. You can also park at the Village Hall as we are having teas there afterwards. However, if possible park on the street to keep spaces at village hall for people going there whilst we are on walk.
