Walk Description:
A walk through lowland heath.
The heath is made up of lowland, wetland, grassland and birch woodlands.
A green flag awarded park. The invasive pines and other trees are being removed to allow the heather to
flourish along with the natural inhabitants.
Most of the trails are wide gravel tracks but there are areas which have tree roots.
We will walk for around 5 miles. This can take up to 2 hours.
There is one road to cross on the way to the south park. There are some hilly areas on this side. Lovely
views.
We can stop at the toilets on our route back before returning across the heath to the cars.
Plenty of free roadside parking, we meet near a small residential home park.
Ground nesting birds in season, dogs need to be on leads.
Location Notes:
Parking in road near residential park home site. Entry to Avon Heath over pedestrian bridge. Toilets in the park. Cows on site. (CP)
