Walk Description:
Our walk from Faversham takes us out across the marshes and then follows a sea wall section which is a haven for sea birds. We then follow the sheltered bay around the coast to Whitstable.
Faversham is a very attractive small town with medieval streets and a bustling market square. We propose that you might like to arrive a little bit earlier so as to have time to explore and maybe have a drink at one of the many cafes before starting the walk. Likewise Whitstable has many quaint corners and is famous for its oysters, which can be sampled at many places in the town.
Our longer Explorer WALX are open to all, exploring beautiful areas in and around London. Routes are planned with breaks and the opportunity for refreshments but this isn't just a ramble; we'll encourage the good posture and motivation to push yourself as we do in all our WALX.
If you'd like to benefit from using Nordic walking poles, we advise you attend a Learn to Nordic WALX workshop. Walkers without poles or with trekking poles are very welcome.
Monthly Payment clients £10; Pre-paid Credit clients £16 - price adjusted at payment.
Time: We will leave Faversham Market Place at 10.45
Approximate finish at Whitstable is 3.00 pm; there is then a good 15/20 minute walk to reach Whitstable Station
Route information
Travel by train: There are regular trains from London St Pancras and London Victoria to Faversham/Whitstable.
You are advised to buy a return ticket to Whitstable which will enable you to get off at Faversham, one stop earlier, on the outward journey. The best ticket looks like a Super Off Peak or Off Peak Day Return which allows travel on all off peak trains to or from either St Pancras or Victoria. Check this carefully, and remember buying in advance will secure a cheaper price.
Suggested trains
8.40 from Victoria arriving Faversham at 9.49 if you want to have a look around.
